Engineered & Solid Floor Repairs
Damaged engineered and solid wood planks replaced, re-bonded and blended in Surrey.
Repairing plank floors
A single damaged plank can spoil the look of an otherwise perfect floor. Rather than replacing the whole floor, we cut out and replace the damaged planks, re-bond any that have lifted and blend the repair into the surrounding finish. It is quicker and far cheaper than a replacement floor.
What we repair
Replacing individual planks with deep damage
Re-bonding lifted or hollow-sounding boards on glued-down floors
Dealing with cupping and swelling after leaks
Tightening open joints and boards that have moved
Engineered or solid - why it matters
Engineered boards have a real wood wear layer on a plywood core, while solid boards are timber all the way through. Knowing which you have tells us how to repair it and how much sanding the floor can take. Our article on sanding engineered floors shows you how to check.
Blending the repair
New planks are rarely the exact colour of a floor that has been in sunlight for years. Depending on the floor, we blend the repair locally or carry out a full solid wood restoration so the whole room is even. Lightly worn oiled floors can often be refreshed with a maintenance re-oil instead.
Dealing with water damage
Leaking appliances, overflowing baths and wet boots by the door all take their toll. Damp boards swell and cup, and water stains often go right through the wear layer. We check the moisture levels, let the floor dry properly and then decide whether the boards can be flattened by sanding or need replacing. Patience at this stage avoids repeat problems later.
Floating, glued and nailed floors
Each fitting method needs its own repair technique. We use the right technique for your floor so replacement boards are secure and level. Leftover boards from the original installation make the best repairs, so let us know if you have any.

Questions about engineered & solid floor repairs
How many times can a solid wood floor be sanded?
Solid timber floors can be sanded again and again. Each sand removes only a very thin layer when done properly, which is why period floors are still going strong after a century.
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.
Can damaged boards be replaced invisibly?
We match the species, width and age of your boards wherever possible. After sanding and finishing the whole area, repairs blend in. Learn more about wood floor repairs.
Is my engineered floor thick enough to sand?
In most cases, yes — as long as the top wear layer is 3 mm or more. We check the thickness during the free survey, often by lifting a threshold strip or a floor vent. Our engineered floor guide explains more.
Can you quote from photos?
Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
Can you repair a water-damaged floor?
Often, yes. Light marks often sand away, while badly swollen or stained boards are replaced and blended in. The floor must be fully dry first, so we may check moisture levels before starting.
