Wood floor repairs done properly

Replacing a wooden floor is expensive, and usually unnecessary. With the right timber, careful joinery and a well-matched finish, we repair the damaged areas and keep everything that is still sound. Our Surrey team has repaired floors in Victorian terraces, new-build flats, schools and churches, so we have seen most problems before.

Repairs are often the first stage of a bigger project. When the repair is followed by professional floor sanding, new pieces disappear into the floor. Where a full sand is not needed, a re-oil can blend a small repair into the surrounding finish.

What we repair

We tailor the repair to the construction of your floor:

Making repairs invisible

The hardest part of any repair is making it disappear. Wherever we can, we use reclaimed timber of the same species and size, because new wood rarely matches the colour of floors that have aged for decades. If new wood has to be used, we tone it in with stains and oils so the repair blends with the rest of the room.

Typical repair jobs

  • Creaking floors and boards that move underfoot

  • Loose parquet blocks and failed adhesive

  • Water damage, staining and cupped boards

  • Old service cut-outs, mismatched patches and filled holes

  • Deep scratches, burns and impact damage

Fixing the root of the problem

A repair only lasts if the cause has been dealt with. Lifting blocks often point to damp or failed adhesive, cupped boards to a leak or poor ventilation, and creaks to loose fixings or tired joists. We take moisture readings, inspect underneath where we can and talk you through the options. Where another trade is needed first, we say so, so your new repair is not wasted.

What happens after the repair

A repaired floor can be left as it is, blended locally or fully refinished. Some customers add gap filling to cut draughts, or a stain to give the room a new look. Please note that gap filling is excluded from our service guarantee, because wooden floors move with the seasons and the structure of the building. Our restoration work itself is covered by a three-month service guarantee.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you match my existing floorboards?

In most cases. We use reclaimed timber of the same species and size wherever possible and tone it in during finishing.

Do I need to sand the whole floor after a repair?

For the best match a full sand and refinish is recommended, but we can often blend small repairs with a local finish.

Is it possible to stop floorboards creaking?

Yes. We locate the loose boards and re-fix them to the joists, often without lifting them.

How long do repairs take?

Small repairs are typically finished in a day; larger areas take longer, and we confirm timings with your quote.

Damaged floor? We can fix it.

Tell us about the damage and we will recommend the simplest, longest-lasting repair.

FAQ

Questions about Wood Floor Repairs

All questions
Can you quote from photos?

Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.

How soon can we use the room?

You can usually walk on the floor in socks after a few hours. Furniture can go back after 24–48 hours, and rugs are best left off for around a week while the finish fully cures.

Do I need to empty the room?

Please clear the room of furniture, rugs and small items before we arrive. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our preparation checklist has more tips.

How are your prices worked out?

Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.

Is the quote really fixed?

Yes — every job starts with a free survey and a fixed written quote. There are no surprises on the day, unless you ask us to add extra work. You can request a quote online in a couple of minutes.

Do you work outside Surrey?

Our team works across Surrey and the neighbouring towns and villages. Not sure if you are covered?, get in touch — we are often happy to travel for larger jobs.
